FAQ: Q: How did you get work for FUNimation?
A: The short version is that I submitted my demo reel and I was eventually called in for some auditions by directors who liked my voice. The long version is that I spent years practicing voice acting, stretching my range and acting, and working hard to make the best demo reel I could. I also did important things while waiting like going to school and getting a job.
Q: What's your advice for someone who wants to become a professional voice actor?
A: Take classes. Do community theater. Get as much practice as you can. Read this handy article. Get all the acting experience you can, voice or not.
Q: How can I get into FUNimation?
A: If there were a surefire way, that would be nice. Unfortunately, everyone has a different story because there is no one absolute way to get in. A friend of mine who did everything I did and got called in for auditions the same time I did still isn't "in." The best advice I can offer is to network and make friends. The best way to do that is to get lots of acting experience in things like classes, workshops, and community theater. You'll make lots of friends and connections who will eventually lead to jobs. Just be sure to do the same for your friends when the time comes.
